ECOE was born out of a wish to help community oriented ethical/environmental businesses transition from their original owner-operated phase to the phase beyond their founders. Entrepreneurs devote their time and love to creating unique and socially valuable businesses, and ECOE's goal is to help ensure that organizations built with heart and sacrifice can remain within our communities, by developing structures to serve ethical succession planning.
Earth's General Store is ECOE's first project business. Started by Michael Kalmanovitch in 1991, EGS swiftly became not just a place to purchase ethical, organic and fairtrade products of many kinds, but an Edmonton hub for the community of people seeking to answer the call to Think Globally and Act Locally.
